Collecting tomato Seeds

I have a wonderful crop Sun Gold tomatoes and my American friends would like some seeds .
I couldn't find any in the garden centres but maybe I will be successful later in the year.
However if I can't find any what is the best way of collecting them from my prersent crop.
I have squashed a couple and tried drying out out the pulp but it's a messy business and the seeds don't look all that healthy. Any suggestions of the best way to do it would be appreciated .

Let a tomato over ripen and then squash . remove seeds on to kitchen roll paper and leave to dry out.Should be OK to use next time.

Make sure it's legal to do so before you do it - some countries have severe penalties for importing foreign seeds.
The best thing for separating tomato seeds from the parent fruit is the human digestive system ... sewage treatment plants are always surrounded by a healthy crop!

I do it every year just as Brenda says and it works, the seeds do usually look a bit sick.
Make sure about sending to the States their laws are very complicated, the Post Office will know.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Sun Gold is an F1 hybrid, this means that the seeds will not produce plants that are anything like their parent plant. You will however get a wonderful variety of plants so have a go with them but don't bother to send them to the USA.

I personally wouldn't bother unless out of interest. The seeds are so cheap considering the crop of luvvverly toms if you're lucky of course.
