Just watching a fascinating programme on BBC2 about the Norman influence in Southern Europe, I feel incredibly thick, but at least I feel that my TV watching has been worthwhile tonight.
I was aware of the cultural, scientific and mathematical strength of the Muslims well before the Renaissance, but had no idea that the Normans were so influential in Southern Europe.
