I think I have found out why I can`t get an Avatar after much deliberation and consternation in the past......I was positive I had given my original email as ntl. but it suddenly occurred to me whilst laying in bed, wide awake at 4am to-day, that I was with yahoo isp at the time, but the problem now, is that I have gone to Gravatar and they have e-mailed me at yahoo for confirmation and I don`t know how to proceed any further to read the e-mail they sent. Hope I haven`t bought on a headache for you.

I think you could try just signing up at Gravatar again using the correct email address this time and attach teh same picture.
Or you may be able to go back onto Gravatar and simply change your email address on there?
We should have a big AB party when you finally get the avatar, carlton!

Appreciate your reply tamborine....but it doesn`t help me to read what I`m asking. How do I read it if I`m no longer using yahoo as my ISP?

Also make sure you have the correct current email address on Answerbank profile and that this matches teh emaila ddress held on Gravatar. If the AB profile shows an out of date email address just go on Edit profile and change it (remembering to press submit to confirm the change)

I did go to Gravatar and like I`ve said, they sent me a email to YAHOO and I can`t read it as previously mentioned.

Step 1:
Go to a free email provider, such as GMail, and get yourself a new email address.

Step 2:
Go to 'My profile' on AB and change your contact address to the new one.

Step 3:
Completely forget about your existing Gravatar account. Go their site and register again, using the new address. (Remember that you can use any name and password you like on Gravater. They don't have to be the same as on AB, so you're free to create a new account).

Step 4:
Upload your avatar to your new Gravatar account.

Then (as long as you've activated your avatar from within 'My Profile') everything should be fine.

That's a great summary, Buenchico. The only thing to add is that at the end you may need to refresh everything/clear the cache in your browser (pressing Refresh or Control F5 may be enough) and wait a few minutes.
