Lighten up, biley. What a load of old cobblers. As previosly stated, the whole point of this site is for ALL puzzle solvers get some help when needed. Some need a little and some need a lot.On the point of being undeserving to win, if someone bought you a lottery ticket because you coudn't be bothered to go to the shop and buy it yourself, and you won, woud you say I don't deserve to win and give your prize away? I think not!

fergol - if someone gets me a lottery ticket because I am too lazy to get it myself, then there is no question that I WOULD give the money away - all of it - it is MY laziness that is at the heart of the matter and NO - I would NOT deserve ANY of it. It would be a different matter of somone were to GIVE me a lottery ticket out of their generosity - I would then accept it but ONLY take half the winnings and give the other half to the person who bought the ticket for me.

This whole question goes to the heart of the morality of this country - we all expect something for nothing and rarely think of those who might be missing out because of our laziness.

Lighten up on those who genuinely think it is right to be lazy and impatient and STILL gain over others who may work hard and be patient for their rewards. Not a chance!

I have, as I have said before, won three runners-up prizes from the Daily Telegraph's Saturday crossword - all completed by myself as I have had more than thirty years of experience doing them. vishakhc would get there in time but appears not to have the patience to do so. I am ALL for giving answers to others but when one person then makes it clear that they may then send the crossword off to win a prize THAT THEY DONT DESERVE, then I am right in making the point that this is WRONG.

fergol -one other point (yes I do keep on don't I !!!). You have just given spenser an answer. I am not against that, however much you think I am. BUT if spenser then suggests he is going to send off the crossword and win a prize he does not deserve, then I would be saying the same things to him/her that I have done with vishakhc. I cannot know, as I am not a mind-reader, whether a person wants the answers to LEARN or not. I will give answers on the assumption that they DO want to learn - that is fair enough. But when it comes to winning because of impatience and laziness, well that is a different matter altogether.
biley. Go away you sad OLD GIT.
Somehow thats exactly what I expected from you, fergol. Abuse without any attempt to reason your arguments out. I wonder why! Go away? Not on your life!

I think Biley has really lost it --- a lot of words to justify his first incorrect assumption -- I merely asked a qn that has anyoone won a prize by sending the entries and if all was fair -- he need not think that I am going to win a million pounds for this -- as someone said , it is a useless pen and I have plenty of these --- I am happy that so many people supported me and I will use this site everytime I get stuck -- despite bileys comments.

The whole thing that impresses me with this site is that you are in the company of intelligent people who are ready to help others in their quest of knowledge.

I am sorry Mr Biley --- do u think I would have won it just by sending an entry -- there must be thousands of these and secondly - if I had won , I would have sent the pen across to the person who helped me - you are a prisoner of your own assumptions.

I am glad that there are so many helpful people still and yes , if anyone is stuck , I will help and I am sure that if I get stuck , people would help as well.

Have a nice day alone Mr Biley

WELL SAID, vishakhc !! Perhaps our "friend" ought to contact Mr Tarrant and when, with his superior knowledge, he wins 1m, he can share it out amongst we "lesser" wordsmiths...................

Hope these fit in with what you already have - good luck

Well said vishakhc. Our friend biley is really a very sad person who isn't exactly full of the milk of human kindness. I am glad he hasn't put you off using this site and, as you have seen by all the replies, he is in a very small minority to match his brain. Happy puzzeling.
What a storm in a teacup!  Have only recently joined this site but am here for help - only ask for it when I am desperate - and always send in my answers.  To those of you who are sceptical about the prizes - I have won so many pens that I have given some to my nearest and dearest who will use them and have sold the rest on Ebay!  Have noticed, however, that the geographical spread of winners is a joke.  Always so balanced.  Result is that I submit relatives' and friends' names and addresses when I've won recently and have observed that the 'random winner choosers'(!) like titles.  Hate the new format and prizes.  Also - regarding the Review section generally - realy regret demise of 'Spirits of Our Age'. Anyone agree with me on any of this?  Can't get any more in to this comment section........
