Maybe we should go back in time?or is too much knowledge a dangerous thing, which the amish teenager didnt have access too..
I have nothing but respect for the Amish. They lead the life they choose to but don't try and influence other people.....in many (but not all) respects I quite envy them.
I know what you mean, craft. There is something very attractive about their lifestyle and their contentment with it.
Sorry Boxtops - I meant it was the only thing I could see that the Amish and the Taliban have in common :)
The Amish teenagers seem much more mature than the teens I know, but they also seem much less critical of others. They accept other people have different lifestyles, beliefs and goals as they do, but they seem to feel neither inferior or superior. Just genuinely worried, in some cases, about the long term future of their new friends.

They neither criticise nor appease. The Amish have a self-confidence and self-reliance I find enviable.
It is, I think, very brave of the parents and elders to give the youths the opportunity to see what is available out there to them. A sign of true love, rather than control.
The taliban would not be accepting of their youths experiencing a very different lifestyle for as many months or years it takes for a decision to be made.

The Amish seem to be self disciplined, self reliant and very family minded. We could do with a bit more of that in our culture, I think. (Compare and contrast to the families on Jeremy Kyle.)

I'm very much looking forward to the next episode. From the trailer it seems the Amish youths are somewhat shocked and distressed at the goings on in a night club. It will be good to see how they handle it.

The fourth one was last Sunday....but you can see it on 4OD.
''is too much knowledge a dangerous thing''
