I received an engagement present, and a gift card fell out "to Tracey and Paul on your wedding" (Tracey is my cousin).

also my niece gave me a Christmas present last year that I'd given to her the year before.

I don't have a problem with the re-gifting theory, but you have to be more careful than that!

I never have.............I've given things away but never in place of birthday or Xmas gifts.

I gave my old man a bottle of red wine I was given ,that I knew I didn't like,for Fathers Day, received the same bottle off him for my Birthday.... So gave it him for a Christmas present a month later (along with some socks of course).

A friend showed me set of towels, a prize she had won on a tombola. She asked me if I would like them as she didnt want them. I replied no as I didnt really need any. Guess what, the following Christmas she gave them to me as a present ! I was fuming inside, that no thought had gone into my pressie. I gave them to my brother and his wife who are quite hard up at the moment and they were over the moon. Just shows.
