i'm researching my family tree and have hit a brick wall with my great grandfather. his name is max bresner born 1877 in cairo fs egypt.(i don't know what the fs stands for)
he married in 1853 to beatrice goddard and they had 4 children alfred max, joseph henry, reuben (my grandfather) and ethel. can anyone help find who his parents are
many thanks
foreign service perhaps. he married Q4 Cardiff ref 11a 492, order his marriage cert and it will give you his fathers name, the father probably worked for the british east india company.

I'm lost on this birth...........for 1876 and 1877 I've checked Regimental Births, Army Chaplain Registrations, Marine Births, and Consular Births.....nothing!
max was not British craft, if he was british he would be briotish subject in the census but it is fs which means foriegn subject, he's probably gernan descent, his father probably worked for the east india company in cairo but was german, maybe franch at a push
thank you so much for information cratft + dotty you are so knowledgable! ive only just started with tracing my family tree and im a bit unsure of right way to go about things yet!
