Fewer uses, though. You can chop whole tomatoes.

But, if you buy chopped, you can't unchop them.

Are they the same quality as tinned 'whole' tomatoes? Or are they the dregs, a bit like tins of tuna 'flakes'?

If I want whole tomatoes...I'll use fresh. I can't think of any reason why I'd want whole tinned.

Chopped tomatoes have all the tops in them - by the time you fish them out there's no tomatoes left, just the juice.
