Does anyone know what it feels like when you have a prolapsed womb?

Yes Kathyan - I had a prolapsed womb many years ago. I didn't know what was wrong, I felt very strange *underneath* and I got a mirror to have a look and It looked as though my insides were falling out. I went to the doctor very embarrassed, after an examination he said I had a prolapse and referred me to a gynacologist. I had a hysterectomy but I wasn't cut, it was done vaginally and I was absolutely fine. I understand if you are young and probably want more children a ring can be inserted to *lift* the womb back, but my children were grown up so it was better for me to have the hysterectomy. Hi Denise. I'm 55 and for the past couple of days I have had really bad backache and then today I feel funny *underneath*! The only way I can describe it is how I used to feel when I had come on, you know that heavy feeling? I also feel as though I'm sat on something but can't feel anything there (does that make sense?)

Hi Kathyan, I recognise these symptons too. I felt as if I was sitting on something that wasn't there. Do go to your doctor. If you need an operation it is not too bad - honestly ! love Denise.,

Yes, i believe it feels like a dragging feeling down below like 'something coming down'. It gets worse as the day progresses especially if you are on your feet due to gravity. It may also cause problems with your waterworks and bowels close by. It usually results from stretching during childbirth so if you've had 'big babies' naturally then you're probably right!

Ring pessaries as described that fit in the vagina are an option to hold the womb up but some people don't get on with them as im sure you can imagine!

Ive got double prolapse - lucky me!! It doesnt always feel like a dragging sensation. I have no discomfort but just felt as Denise S says like i was sitting on something. When i checked i saw a lump just inside my vagina. Its the wall of the vagina pushing down because the womb had dropped. As im 41 they said an op was not an option for now but i was sent for physio. I must admit i freaked a bit - i mean how on earth do you to physio down there!! LOL But need not have worried. It was just pelvic floor exercises and if they dont work then they suggest something similar to a tens machine but havent got that far yet! My physio lady was great and said that if it feels 'dry' just use a little KY jelly. You do need to get it checked at the doctors who can refer you to hospital for further checks if needed. Dont put it off - if its a prolapse it wont go back all by itself and if left can lead to incontinence and double prolapse (and psst shhh - very uncomfortable sex) Denise S can i ask, was the op a success with no problems? Its just that i may end up with this as an option. I felt the prolapse was huge but at the hospital they said it was minor!

I dont mean to be intrusive as I am genuinely interested.

Does it happen so quick that you wouldnt notice if you were 'making love' .I ask because I am horrendously bothered with the 'M' word and sometimes I dont know if I am coming or going.I have not had a problem with the physical side hence the Q.

My husband is in the Army so I don't see him very often, but last time I saw him and we 'did' it was fine. I've only noticed it over the past few days.

Yes I was fine until the weekend and it went downhill from there! I will get in touch with the doctor later to make an appointment.

I've been to the doctors and she said there is a weakness in the front wall of my uterus. She has referred me to the hospital and I have to take a sample in tomorrow to check for any infection. Although it is still uncomfortable, I feel better knowing what the problem is! Thanks for all your kind words of support.

hi,
i am looking for some advice,i am 25 yrs old and have just given birth to my 4th child.
he is now 3 weeks old and i have noticed some strange things going on down there.
i can feel my cervix right at the entrance of my vagina and it literally feels like it has fell right down,as though there is is no vagina only cervix,i know this might sound strange but i need to know if this is prolasped womb or just normal after having a baby,although i dont think it is as this has never happened before.any advice would be appreciated.

I have just come across this site, due in hospital tomorrow for a prolapse womb and bladder repair. I am quite shocked how severe some peoples symptoms appear to be that haven't been sent down the surgery route.

I am only 34 with 1 child and consider myself lucky having read some of the posts that my consultant is going to repair them.

All being well I will be able to give a progress report on my return from hospital.

My advice would be to persist on a referral.

hi err i dont no were to start but well im 29 have three children and well have normal regular periods up until last month when i had two in the space of four weeks then i have terrible period pain no period the tops of my thighs acheing and the cramps in my stomach have been sick twice but i also have the feeling of something gonna fall out i went to docters and he just gave me pain kilers didnt even examine me i am searching myself but has anyone else had pain like i have described aww please i am really worried
