...why does emulsion paint with a bit of colour cost so much.In the latest Focus DIY leaflet 10 litres of 'Crown Pure Brilliant White Emulsion' is on sale at £14.99. Thats just fine but also advertised is 2.5 litres of 'Crown Standard Coloured Emulsion' for £11.99.It doesn't matter whether the colour is the meerest hint, or a deep scarlet or whatever colour.10 ltr of coloured emulsion costs £47.96,compared to 10 ltr of white at £14.99.Surely the paint is the same,its just the addition of concentrated water soluble colour dyes,isn't it?

Mass production and purchasing by consumers of white emulsion keeps the costs down.
try screwfix.com good prices there....
Wilkinsons is always a few pounds cheaper than the big diy stores. Even the top brand names not just stores own brand.
