Just going through the post on return from hols and find I have a camera speeding ticket from before I left. Is there any point in ticking for the awareness course rather than paying up front? I know I won't get the points if accepted but does it still cost and is it more trouble than it's worth? Anyone done it?

I think it costs roughly the same as the fine.

It depends on how keen you are to keep the points off the licence.
It costs the same, but if you go on the course you don't have the points put on your licence which can affect your insurance price quite a bit...especially if you get caught again within the next 5 years. It only takes 3 hrs or so...go and do the course.
I did one a couple of years ago to avoid the points on my licence. Actually found it really interesting and learnt a few things.
I did one about 18 months ago everybody in the room including myself was there for one reason only to keep a points free licence. Although the real speeders are not invited only the ones doing less than 10mph above the limit seems a bit ludicrous really.

Many thanks for your answers. I'll tick for the course and see what happens.
It's a no brainer, if you have any sense go for the course and don't get points, you might even enjoy it, i did.
I use to work at a place where they held them. Everyone looked bored stiff....coffee and biscuits though.
Women drivers - a danger to society. Ban the lot of them, I say!!

Just to finish this off did my course today. Very tedious if I'm honest but worth it not to get the points. Thanks for all previous advice.
