How to cope with computer screen flicker

A colleague is worried that she is going to be asked to use a computer as part of her job. She's never been able to use computers because she has an eye problem that means she's sensitive to the flickering of computer screens.
The company is a good one and I'm sure a way will be found to avoid her having to use the computer, but she would like to do what everybody else is doing. I'd be interested to hear of any ideas she can try to overcome the problem.

A fast refresh monitor might be the answer. Her eyes might not detect a quicker flicker. I take it she can't watch TV either?

you can buy a kind of antiglare screen cover ...might help...

You can also change all the backgrounds to a green colour which reduces the glare from all the white. Its cut my migraines right down.

Like Mr. Fickens says, but if it's an old fashioned CRT monitor, make sure whoever is in charge of IT sets it to the maximum supported refresh rate.
I remember a few years ago when many large companies (e.g. B&Q, Marks & Spencer) had their monitors running at 60Hz (flickering like biggery) when they would support 85 Hz (no discernible flicker).
