hydrangea colour change

has anyone successfully managed to change a pink (originally blue) hydrangea back to blue by watering it with the recommended stuff? don't want to waste my money if it doesn't really work. thanks.

Yes, but it took two seasons. I also put a length of copper piping between the roots and the plant is now one of the bluest I've ever seen.

I was always told to just bury a few bits of old iron junk , a bag of nails (not galvanised) etc around the bush.

I just think it is just a case of changing the acidity / alkalinity of the soil by adding the appropriate (not necessarily commercial) agent. A lot easier if they are in containers.

i have looked into how to do it, i was just wondering if anyone had had any success themselves. sometimes you read about these things but the reality is very different from the theory and not always successful.
thank you all for your replies, am going to have a go as my three shrubs have all changed to a quite nasty dark pink instead of the lovely blue i bought them as.

I'm sure the one outside our house used to be blue and now it's pink

Chelated or Sequestered Iron watering.
Quantity of steel large nails around surface of plant.
Both will work fine. It takes a couple of seasons th, so be patient!

To change their colour either pour vinegar over their roots or bury rusty nails etc in with the roots. Off course you can buy something at the garden centre to do it but my methods work and they are cheaper.

I bought some Hydrangea Colourant from a Garden Centre and started using it every week in early spring on my Hydrangeas they all changed to either blue or purple or lilac...I've thrown the empty tube away so I can't tell you who it was by - but it worked on every plant this year...And as I said it was just called Hydrangea Colourant...
