if you get hit from behind i understand it to always be the fault of the driver behind even if the driver in front stopped suddenly and for no reason, but who is at fault if the driver behind hits your vehicle and rams your vehicle into the one in front of you?
I know. I was a receptionist at a repair garage for a couple of years and it never seemed fair to me, but if a customer got rammed and then they rammed the car in front, they usually lost their excess.
no mojo it does'nt seem fair, you could be sitting there minding your own business in a line of traffic and some idiot whos not concentrating rams in the back of you pushing you into the car in front and you lose out, who makes these rules up I wonder
I always follow the maxim instilled in me by RoSPA and the Instutute of advanced motorists ; ' Tyres and Tarmac'. Leave enough space from the car in front to see their tyres abd some road. Prevents multiple shunts and you can get away if car in front breaks down etc.
This actually happenned to me. The driver in the first impact paid for both cars. I didn't even tell my own insurers. I also got travel expenses while they sorted the car out.
Happened to me about a year ago, I did not have any claim on my insurance at all, the person behind was found to be of blame. for the damage to the rear of my car and the car in front that I was pushed into.
