Which is the cheapest month to fly to america on a return ticket basis?

February would be fairly low season but might be hard to get a flight within the states due to spring week.  I think October/November is also low season.

their is not really a cheap time or an expensive time to go to the states,,

the prices normally stays the same all year round u might get �10-�50 saving hear and their, but generally all airlines have about 7-10 differrent fares for economy and with in these fares they will have a set limit on how many seats they can sell at that price, once they have all gone u have to go for the higher price, but remeber the lower the fare the more u have to pay for any changes (if permited).. the more expenive the ticket u have less conditions on it...

so u will just have to look around and take your best option...

sometimes going from any of the municipul airports in the uk will/should be cheaper than going from LHR/LGW (Heathrow/Gatwick)...

from experience ive found that from october (excluding christmas) through to march even april is around the cheapest time to go

The further in advance you can decide and book the cheaper it is likely to be. You can see the proof of this by going online to airline sites and just punch in theoretical dates. What has already been said is correct (Oct-Mar) but some airlines are consistently cheaper than others. You could check out Icelandair who tend to be quite competitive - from Heathrow and Glasgow in UK, various other European airports too.
