Happy Birthday to The AnswerBank
37 Answers
The AnswerBank, in its current form, is one year old today!
I suppose there should be cake?
On this day, 12 months ago we relaunched on a new, solid and faster platform - albeit a little premature with a few bugs yet to be worked out.
Want to remember what The AnswerBank was like? Why not look here: http://web.archive.or...w.theanswerbank.co.uk
Here is what I am wondering though, on this auspicious occasion: have we changed for the better? Is there anything we're really missing at this point? What do you guy want from us in the future? Also, do we like being orange?
All the best,
Spare Ed
PS: This might be a good time to mention we're doing some further upgrades this week or next: http://www.theanswerb...g/Question933345.html

No best answer has yet been selected by AB Editor. Once a best answer has been selected, it will be shown here.
For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ....and Spare you are a decent enough sort of Spare:) There was a time when we weren't even sure we HAD an Ed cos nothing was ever answered. All better now. Good to see you about. Perhaps one thing, when you post in other topics may I suggest you always also post a copy in the Editor's Blog.
...
Oh no, not the Gravatar thing all over again with Flickr! Do you really have to do this to earn your living, AB?

oh lord yes...
Diamonds
A girl’s best friend is formed from the same element that makes up nearly one-fifth of her body weight. We’re talking, of course, about diamonds.
Black Holes
They are menacing features of deep space, monstrous devourers of everything around them. They are black holes.
That used to be on every page, for months.
I can live without bold and underscores but italics would be nice; at the moment if you want to emphasis something you have to put it in CAPITALS, which is rude.
It would be nice to have colours back... you even used to be able to post in invisible ink, see my post at 1.26 on this link...

Flickr would provide us a little extra cover in terms of users wanting to show us their etchings. It might be a bit tricky for some users, but I think users interested in sharing photos would be members of flickr already? Alternatively, if we could allow users to post photos from their facebook here that might cut down on the "access" problems.
I've been thinking that the profiles act a little like blogs. Do you think a "blog" tab would be useful/used. Equally, would you like a "AB status"?
Thanks for the Spare appreciation Swede!

Personally-I find the orange hideous...it's the last colour I would choose. Also red really is not suitable-too much is or can be hard on the eyes, and it is known as a colour that can have a negative psychological effect on people.
I have been on another forum that is laid out far better, offers users the choice of several formats/colours with which to personalise the pages you see, also has the facility for editing posts, pictures can be posted along with other graphics....etc,etc.
Of course-I, like most of us, know little about the mechanics of such things....but AB is a bit dull in comparison.
