router info required

Af'noon all,

My internet provider is Talktalk and I have the white Echolife HG520b router which is plugged into the mains in upstairs room.

I want to use my laptop in the lounge but can't connect to the internect as I am out of range.

I phoned Maplins and they confused me by suggesting either a ranger extender or a new router, that is fine but they would not commit to a model or price.

Can anyone offer any help.

I assume simply moving the router closer to where you are is out of the question then?
