ASIO drivers for Sound Blaster 24 bit live card
5 Answers
Hello, I bought a Sound Blaster 24 bit 7.1 card a while ago for the main purposes of a) allowing me to feed 5.1 surround sound from programs like Sonic Foundry's ACID, or basically any program that had the ability to output more than two channels for surround sound. b) to lower my latency in Propellerheads Reason and other software synthesisers.
I was absolutely ****** off to find that the only way you could get any form of surround sound out of the card was to either use only WinDVD, which was obviously useless and didn't help with what I wanted at all, or to play a stereo sound through their bloated and buggy mixer software and have it cloned through all the output channels. Absolutely useless. Any program I tried to connect up to the card in surround sound complained to me that it didn't have ASIO drivers.
As far as I can tell, Creative are keeping these ASIO drivers only for people who buy their stupidly expensive Audigy cards. How can they sell a card and label it as a fully functioning 7.1 card when this only works with one program?
Anyway... back to the question.. would anyone possibly know whether I could get ASIO drivers [or 'compatible'] for a Sound Blaster 24bit 7.1 card?

If not go back to the shop where you bought it and see if they can do anything.
Hope this helps

Actually, nope, that's for the audigy... :( cheers anyway. i'm pretty sure creative aren't going to release asio drivers for this card anytime soon, just instead wanting people to buy the audigy rather than use the features this card obviously has. i'd rather be able to use them with the apps i bought it for, rather than the ones they're telling me i'm going to use it for. [as far as I can gather so far - surround sound in windows media player 9 and WinDVD.]
What is the exact model number?
Have you tried these?
