Yep, you had to look under your sink (or in the scullery in those days) and if you could show him a box of OMO or whatever, you got a prize. (and they videod you, as I recall, for the TV ad!)
also - someone's Mum's not using Persil - one shiny child in a white top, a more miserable one in slightly grey one

I remember the Omo and the White Tide man, there was Rinso and Surf washing powder too. I think we used Fairy Soap for washing and bathing, nothing fancy in those days and I don't remember washing my hair with shampoo either.

no it was soap for the hair ayg, but it was always shiny...
My grandma always used Pears soap, I was impressed because you could see through it.

I remember washing my hair in soap powder to get the Bellaire laquer out, then in supersoft shampoo in the little blue sachet...
I remember the little blue paper of salt in Smiths Crisps, in the days before Walkers ruled the world.
