hello we already do duck races, raft races, produce shows, carnival, any other ideas for fun village activities by the sea? i.e cart racing, cheese rolling?

We do a paper boat race here, extremely popular - you have to make the boat out of a sheet of newspaper http://www.mathematis...ien.de/paper_ship.htm then stick it in the river and race.

I think they do a rubber duck race round here in the river, meant to be really popular.

More controllable (and environmentally friendly) in the river than the sea though.

You could set balloons off with messages, get people to get in touch about location and see whose gets the furthest.

See if anyone has any Newfoundland dogs near you, they do a marvellous rescue demo at our local Regatta.

i went to one once where there was a contraption (presume specially built) that people could throw bean bags at a target and if hit released a shower of water on to a prominent person underneath. it went down well, and works if you can get someone really prominent in the town (mayor, vicar etc) or get someone to dress in a suit/wedding dress etc. works well if the weather is dry and warm.
