Have a man working on my roof at present, every time he phones me he says " Hi this is Dave the rooffa"

He is an excellent worker , but everytime I see him I want to slap him one.

Am I being pernickety?

hc - do you mean the "rising Australian inflection" ? I hate that too.
I've also noticed that Brummies often end every sentence with "yeah?" as if you have to confirm every single thing they say.
