Apart from the word Savages, which I find inappropriate, most of that article is a succint wrap-up of all that we have been saying on here, as ummm says. The man is well off track. Let's see what happens though today - I hope, nothing.

Excellent article, Whicker, and it gets to the nitty gritty. When I and one or two others said something similar to that above, the principle was overwhelmed by exactly the absurb and cowardly argument the author outlines - together with demands for this peculiar obligatory 'respect' we are all expected to harbour - even if it is for utter madmen.

ummmm - it's the Irish Independent, thus primarily written for the Irish reader, hence his reference to reactions in Ireland.

By the way - O'Doherty is a bloody interesting daily columnist, not least because what he usually writes challenges my views and i often fundamentally disagree with him.
