Yellow Raspberries

Was in Waitrose this Morning buying Fruit and came across Yellow Raspberries at £2.49 a Punnet. They were grown in Kent.
I must have lived a sheltered life as far as Gardening goes but I have never seen or heard of them before. Anyone else come across these.......how do they compare to the Red ones.

Don't know, but wouldn't imagine they are as sweet as their red counterparts.

They sold various berries in Spain, but they were horrendously expensive.

A mixed punnet of, say, 200gms was about eu13.50... or £10 in old money. As if that wasn't bad enough, they'd often be covered in mould.

Cherries are abundant there and not too pricey.

I have them in my garden and they are wonderfully sweet compared to the red ones.

Are they a new Variety nohorn are have they been around for a while ??

Seems there are a few varieties Redman, one is called Autumn Gold.

They've always been around, and are very sweet. And are always very, very expensive.

Yellow raspberries aren't new. There's a ruined cottage on a hill near us that must have been abandoned in the mid 1800s - only about 2 feet high wall remains are visible nowadays. But masses of both red and yellow raspberries grow wild in and around what must have been the vegetable garden, back when the cottage was occupied. As kids, we knew all about them!!
