Text message question

If you send a text message to a phone that is turned off how long will the network try to deliver the message for? Say for example someone has gone on a 2 week holiday and switches their phone back on when they resume work will they recieve the message sent 2 weeks ago?

It will vary according to sending network, the "official" answer is no less than 3 days, but some networks will hold them a lot longer.
