Can anyone tell me if it's possible to connect my DVD recorder's hard drive to a PC or lap top? I have a Toshiba dvd recorder that will not switch on. I get the message HDD error then it switches off. I have hours of recorded footage on the disk that I do not want to lose. I thought I might be able to run a diagnostic.

It's certainly possible to connect the drive to anything with a USB port. it will be a standard hard drive type and USB adaptors are available for all of them for under £20.

If it's possible to read the file system is another matter... I'd give it a go and see what can be seen though.
Yes, it will physically connect, but the PC might not be able to understand it - try it.
