A loft is usually the roof space between the ceilings of the bedrooms and the roof of the house. A loft will almost always follow the roof contours, and limited space, it may or not be boade out and insulated. An attic on the other hand is usually an actual room built into the top of the house with walls of a uniform height and a proper floor. A cellar is usually left uninsulated so it can be used to sotr wine, ice, vegetables, and so on. A basement is usually insulated, lit, and heated, for use as an additional room or living area.

Sorry, that should be 'boarded out' - it's been a long day!

Attic and basement is American. A loft is Enlish and so is a celler.
