My son has started using the word 'bled' as a form of address, which he has picked up from school.

We understand however that this is an unpleasant saying with origins in the West Indies. Clearly, we do not want him saying it, particularly around his younger sister, if this is the case. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks all! Not quite as bad as I was expecting.
sounds as if it's related to 'blood', which probably had its origins in gang-speak but isn't particularly offensive any more.
Urban dictionary doesn't mention it is from 'blood brother', which became blud, then bled, innit.
