Why are we celebrating the Battle of Britain in a seemingly exaggerated way this year?

I agree, commemorate is more suitable.

redhelen.....probably right.
It's not a celebration as such...it's remembering those brave few who, as young people (some in their late teens), gave their lives so we remain free to this day.

That is no exaggeration.

I was not talking about the "bravery" of the men but the "celebration" as compared to other years.
