Am going to Dublin for a weekend in December, can anyone suggest some good places to eat or drink or things to do and see?

I'd sat that one of the best places to visit is temple bar it's where some night life is in the city.

Have a coffee & cake in Bewleys on Grafton Street. Phoenix Park is always worth a visit, and is so huge (one of the biggest in Europe) that you won't see it all.

And as danbrooker said, Temple Bar is buzzing. Enjoy!

buuurrrp, sorry that must've been the beans I ate yesterday

Delboy - sadly, Bewley's on Grafton Street is no more! - Despite howls of protest, they closed the doors last year.

The Guinness Brewery is always good for a visit - you will get great veiws from the Gravity bar, as you enjoy your complementary pint at the end of the tour (funnily enough, I never seem to be able to find the exit from the bar!!)

Also, as a good overview of the city, one of the hop-on, hop-off tour buses is a good idea. We have also toured the city on the "Ghost Tour", which was a bit of fun one evening.

Other things to try are - wander up Grafton Street & listen to the Buskers, take the literary walking tour which starts from the front gate of Trinity College around 11am each day. Or the literary pub crawl, that starts from the Duke pub just off Grafton Street, each evening. The Jameson's distillary is worth a visit, or for an enjoyable evening out of the city, head up to Johnnie Foxes pub in Glencullen for some excellent seafood & music.

Sorry - the walking tour that starts from Trinity, is the Historical walking tour, not literary.

Scubadiver - my wife will be gutted to hear about Bewley's!

Anyway, eash, if you like shopping you may want to go up Henry Street - Arnott's, Roches, the Jervis Centre, and on O'Connell Street is the famous Clearys - if any of them are still there, that is!!

They are still there delboy.  If you want to go to Dublins north side on the DART eash - try Malahide there are some lovely pubs and restaurants and Malahide Castle and grounds also.  Howth is also nice.,
