how do you treat a calf muscle that my husband has pulled? hes walking around in agony. hes recently had a back problem and pulled his muscle when he had to pull up quickly when walking at the weekend. he is so miserable and its rubbing off on me!

Time...warm bath and massage. Deep heat.
Ibuprofen.

Yes, good idea. Ice pack ten minutes, heat pack ten minutes. He has my sympathy. Mr LL has to put up with me and my constant back problems that affect my legs!!
Disagree Sqad. Not according to my physio.
lofty......it is now at least five days old...........ice packs in my opinion are contra indicated after such a long time. Cold reduces the swelling, but warmth encourages healing.......in my opinion.
Apart from reducing swelling, cold ice packs also provide pain relief and for longer than warm ones. This has certainly been proved in my case.

would you recommend biofreeze gel that i have seen?
Never used it nextqueen. So don't know. Frozen peas are the best best. Wrapped in a tea towel! They can be used over and over again, but remember not to eat them!!
