Parcels - the ins and outs

If you are sent a prcel in the post and you are not there to collect it then it goes to the postal place. How long will it stay there for? The reason I ask is I will be getting something sent in the post but will not be home for around 3 weeks.

Can you get someone to go round your house and pick up the parcel from the Post Office?

YEs I probably can but from what I remember they open at stupid times right?

i have just looked at the card for mine. If it's "signed for" they keep it fora week, anything else 3 weeks

If someone can collect the card from your house they could arrange for re-delivery to a local PO or an alternative address? As if they collect often you have to show ID (at ours you do anyway)

Parcel Force is Royal Mail

You can also nominate an 'If not in deliver to xyz' in writing to the sorting office.
