hi, was just getting out of the car (about an hour ago) and about 7 planes went over fast and loud in a v shaped formation. I am near Reading - what would that have been?

Probably there is an airshow some time this weekend and they are flying in for it. I don't know of any military teams that fly with 7. The BBMF fly with 3 or 4, the Reds with 9 and the missing man tribute is normally 4 harriers or tornados. Be interested to know what they were though (plane junky me).
Air shows coming up soon are...
17th-19th - Goodwood Revival - Goodwood Circuit, West Sussex - Unique event celebrating the heyday of british motorsport and aviation - remember your period dress!!! PO18 0PX
18th-19th - Southport Airshow - Southport Seafront, Lancashire - Unique venue in the UK with airshow taking place over the extensives sands rather than over water. 2008 and 2009 saw the beach used as a runway for a selection of heritage aircraft as well as some of the displays. PR8 1SB
18th-19th - Kemble Battle of Britain Airshow - Kemble Airfield, Gloucestershire - A much more laid back event than the Air day incorparating a small air display, hanger displays and a fly-in. GL7 6PJ

The Red Arrows were at Great Ormond St today apparantly and then I guess they would have headed back to base at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire so not quite directly on the way unless they were on a bit of a jolly (or they have to fly a certain way with commercial airspace and such). They are up in Newcastle tomorrow for a flypast of the Great North Run.
