Mucus when going to the loo

Bit gross I know, sorry!

I went to the loo earlier and as well as some blood (not unusual) there was a lot of this white mucussy stuff.

Not sure if it's just one of those things or connected to my tummy problems (malabsorption and have had problems with fissures and such) or if it could be related to some groin abcesses/infected cysts i've had for what must be over a month now. Started off with one (Dr said an unfected cyst) and was given antibiotics then a couple of mouth ulcers came up then another groin one came up (Dr said abcess, think it's the same thing though?) so was given stronger ones but it still hasn't gone away, second course of tablets finished a week ago.

It keeps flaring up again so was wondering if the infection could have spread somehow, hence the mucus.

Have felt so run down, almost fluey and just horrible for weeks and it's really affecting me and people have commented on the way I've looked saying I just look ill.

I desparately need to get back on track as quickly as possible and seeing my gastro Tuesday for a followup but if it could be an infection spread from the abcess I'd try and get a GP appointment or get down the walk in.

Need to sort the abcess anyway but is the mucus anything to be concerned about and/or could it be related?

is the mucose from your anus ? is the blood connected to your malabsorbtion issue ?

To be honest I'm not altogether sure. GP said I had a fissure a while back though it is a lot better than it was and I have a lot of diarrhoea so figure that is to blame for the bleeding, soreness etc...

Not had mucus like that I've noticed before now though.

I don't know that much about the malabsorption thing. I found out at my last consultant's appointment in about January. Saw a different Dr who said my camera pill thing was ok, no internal signs of crohns etc... (esp as I have inflammatory arthritis and other things that were pointing to that) and sounded like he wasn't sure what else to do then mentioned maybe a malabsorption test. I pointed out they'd done one 6 months before!

He hadn't even realised (they ordered it!) or seen the results and spent a while telling me how unlikely it was unless I had had some kind of surgery or inflammatory bowel disease etc... for anything to come up before finding the results which showed I had bile acid malabsorption. It was pretty much the end of the consultation then and just got pretty much shoved out by a rather embarassed Dr with a prescription but no real explanation. He didn't even check the fissure as he said he was going too so it was all a bit random really.

They put me on medication for an initial 3 months and it was absolutely fantastic and felt so much better and my deficiencies (iron, vit D etc...) got better and I noticed a massive difference in my skin, hair, nails, energy etc... as well as the pain, diarrhoea, sickness etc...

I was meant to be back not long after the initial 3 months ran out but they have kept putting the appointment back and back and it's finally on Tuesday. Since I finished the initial meds it's gradually gone back to how it was before (including things like the abcesses as used to get a lot before).

Sorry, yes to your first question, it is definitely from there.
I have a relative with Crohn's Disease and she says she poos a lot of mucus when an attack flares up - she went a very long time before anyone would actually diagnose her condition and give appropriate treatment. If you are seeing your consultant on Tuesday, that's pretty soon if you can manage to wait a few days - but if you feel really ill I would go to the walk-in centre before then.
if youve had diarrhoea, it's maybe just your system getting back to normal.
whatever the medication was . and it worked hope they continue treatment. please mention the blood and mucus. if the area is a bit sore, try some sudacrem ointment. may i point out i am not a doctor, but i hope yoou get on well at the hospital on tuesday
No big deal Jenna and it will certainly keep until Tuesday.
He may well suggest another Colonoscopy.

Thank you all :) Counting the days until Tuesday, hopefully the start of getting back on track. I will definitely mention it all to my consultant.

I have chronic diarrhoea Annie though quite possible a reaction to that. I have some sheriproct to help the soreness and it's fantastic and has some numbing stuff in it. Got some sudocream too.

Hopefully I will get back on the meds and some answers Tuesday, at least be able to eat properly and get the deficiencies sorted. It's been dragging on for years now between appointments and tests and such. They first mentioned they thought I might not be absorbing my food properly back when I was about 12 and ended up in hospital then after a load of tests went down the whole IBS route before being told it was something more than that and being referred again a few years ago by my rhumatologist as they thought it could be the cause of my inflammatory arthritis, Vit D deficiency etc...

I so don't want it to be inflammatory bowel but I just want some help to feel more normal again.
good luck on tuesday, tell them everything no matter how insignificant, hope you start to feel better soon xx
