Just watched one of the Friday 13th films(for want of something to do) and the credits listed Alan RUFFCUT as one of the production team.Do they make it up??

Dunno,but sometimes when films haven't turned out as planned (cut to bits cos the film company have got involved or something) directors sometimes adopt the name Alan Smithee - thus hiding their identity and saving their reputation. Even if their identity becomes known, the fact they have used this name indicates they are not responsible for the mess the film ended up as. I suppose an editor or similar may use the same device to wash their hands of the film and Ruffcut would be an appropriate name to use.
