I have just watched the documentary of the 8/9 yr olds at their first year at a Prep Boarding School...these kids are our future Politicians make no mistake.... and yet, you have to ask yourself.
Would you send your child to these places to give him/her the ideal start?
or are they too young to be sent away?

OK sqad, they were taken to Eton or the other one which slips my mind, and asked to take a small exam, this was put into their progress at this Prep School and Eton got an update of the child as time went on, the child was either chosen to taken an enterance exam or told they wern't good enough..

Our son was boarding at that age (not my decision, I wasn't married to his mother then.I wouldn't have sent him.). He grew up to become an estate agent, so it obviously didn't work!

8 is too young. But our daughter wanted to go to boarding school at 11 and was very happy there.It all depends on the child.Some will always enjoy it and almost pity those who don't board. But a shy,intoverted, child, may find it all too much, whatever the particular school's style (and they vary a lot. Some are fearfully hearty and games orientated, some are strong on arts and so on)

I don't have any objections to schools which offer a great education to the children they teach. I'd like to see all schools do the same.

I always wanted to go to boarding school when I was very young. I didn't consider that I wouldn't see my parents or I would have thought differently. Obviously it came from reading too much Enid Blyton. LOL
