Grizelda and the Rain Fairies

When I was young I had a book of fairy tales one of which was called Grizelda and the Rain Fairies. Everytime Grizelda washed the windows the fairies would come down to play. I think she saved a nearby village from a drought by washing all the windows. Beginning to think I've imagined this. Can anyone out there help?

I remember the same book! I have been trying for years to get another copy of it. There were many lovely stories in it. Do you remember the story of the 3 princesses, Cordelia, Arabella and Sylvia who were too poor to have dresses for the princes' ball and all the animals made them for them out of sky and rainbows and ice crowns from the North, etc!! And there was the tale of the daffodil fairies who took the liitle girl away to a garden where she met a boy and gave him a rose and he came back as a prince and gave her the rose again! Lovely stories. If you ever hear of a copy or somewhere to find the stories again please let me know!! I really hope we get some more information!

Hooray! If only we could locate a copy. If only we could remember what the book was called!
Did it also have a story about a little girl who was so poor they couldn't afford a Christmas tree but when she went outside on Christmas morning the spiders had decorated the tree with webs and the tree was sparling in the dew? That one made me cry. Sad, I know.

Yes I remember that story too! I think it was an anthology of fairy or bedtime stories - I can remember the illustrations really clearly. I shall keep looking and let you know if I have any luck.

I'm so excited that you've managed to track down Grizelda. I've been searching for this story for my Mum for years, as she lost her book in a house move when I was a baby. Are you able to let me know the wherabouts of the copies that you were speaking about in Jan this year please? I would be so grateful!
