Been given prescription for IBS
5 Answers
Further to a previous post on here, I finally got to see my doctor who agreed I do have IBS - hurrah, nice to be proved right (in a stupid sort of way!). Anyhow, he said to keep doing what I've been doing but prescribed me peppermint oil capsules (one, three times a day) and also Dosulepin (one to be taken at night - 75mg). Because he had a young trainee in with him, I wasn't sure whether he was talking to me or her at times! So when he mentioned Dosulepin, I did hear him say it was an anti-depressant but not in the dose I'd be taking. Does anyone know what this is meant to do for my IBS? I'm not depressed in any way, shape or form!!

Sqad - yep, get colicky pains every now and again - more bloatedness than anything else. Was a bit worried as it was known as an anti-depressant but am assuming it won't do me any harm in this dose?!
