morning assembly and RE classes

am somewhat out of touch with what goes on in primary and secondary schools these days so perhaps someone can enlighten me. do all state schools still have a morning assembly which includes some sort of singing of anything? and do they still have RE classes of some description?
i'm guessing that these days things aren't as i remember them from my own school days, or even my sons.

i work in a primary school in wales and we have assembly every morning. we have some johovah witness children in school and they dont attend!! we also have some muslim children who do attend but just dont join in with the prayers and hymns.

so in all state schools there is some religeous content to assembly? i am a bit surprised really as i had thought that for the main part, and with the exception of faith schools, religeon was no longer part of school life.
is it the same in secondary schools do you know?

Primary was much more religious....

At my daughters school, they seem t have assemblies at the end of the school day...?? Yeah that baffled me to, but no, no religious songsor hymns are in it.

The school I taught at (I left 3 years ago so it might have changed) had one assembly per yer group per week (school hall could only accommodate 300 pupils at a time). There was no religious content although we did go to the church once a year for a Christmas service. All students did RE/RS and had to do a half GCSE in it as a minimum.

my children are in secondary and they only have assembly once a week. its not religious. they are taught bout lots of different religions in their RE lessons. also about ethics like abortion,racism etc
