Juniper Berries, Caraway Seeds, Fennel Seeds are all found within the British Isles are could be considered spices as oppoed to herbs are they do nor comprise the grren non-woody part of a plant but are aromatic plant parts used in cooking.
Saffron Walden got it's name from the saffron that was grown there.... don't know if the saffron crocus is a native plant though - probably brought over by the Romans.
