Whilst driving to a wedding last night a kitten ran out in front of car. Was hideous, I nearly cried. Bloke was driving and to this day I have never killed a thing in my car, well maybe an ant and billions of flies. Have you ever hit anything larger than an insect?

Yep...some ducklings on the dual carriage way. Both me and my daughter cried. I couldn't do anything about it. Car to the side, car behind :-(

I love Ducks :-((((
I once hit a dog on a busy main road, and I really hit it hard. By the time I managed to park up and run back it had gone and I couldn't find it anywhere. God knows how it had managed to get up again.....really shook me up.

Grew up next to a duckpond so that would mortify me
I hit some partridges while on my motorbike 4 of them,2 hit me right in the chest. On Christmas Day 5 year ago whilst in Norfolk a deer ran out of an hedge, killed it and by a miracle no damage to the car.Dozens of rabbits.
Not sure how many I hit. I'm hoping only 2 out of 6 of them. I know I didn't hit the mother and the first 2.

It mortified me :-(
I don't mean hoping....I'm hoping no more than that :-(
thank goodness I've been lucky enough not to hit anything accidently - but, I did have to intentionally run over a vervet money I found on a dirt road in S Africa. It had been injured goodness knows how long before I got there - it's back was broken and it was in a terrible state. Most of the time when travelling on those roads I'd have a weapon with me but not that time. It was absolutely horrendous. When I got home I burst into tears and couldn't stop shaking.

razza being from Norfolk I'm surprised I havent hit a deer yet, one road as you drive down has loads of monkjacks sat at side of it late at night. I hate it. Was in a car when a stag ran out once, wrote the car of, but still managed to run off.
That's sad carmalee - but at least if you killed it outright, it won't have suffered.
my friend was driving with the window down and a bird flew in, and smashed against the rear windscreen.. and lay bloodied and dying on the parcel shelf :o/

sara my mate had that happen with a big pigeon. oh carmalee you did the right thing x
yes Boxtops there was no alternative, it had suffered enough already and it had to be done but they are so human like it felt like murder.
I once hit a cat that came running out of a patch of grass, and then a few days later hit another cat at exactly the same spot. The strange thing is I never saw the cats again- I even looked under the car to see if it was under the wheel arch or under the bonnet, so hopefully they ran off although sadly with probably some injuries
Now see, this is one of the reasons why i never learnt to drive. I'd b a menace on the road, as I'd slam on the breaks for pigeon and cause a 20 car pile up.

yer if I was driving lastnight I'd have swerved and slammed on the brakes, my bloke didnt flinch, and cat went stright under wheel, he couldnt avoid it, tiny back roads and car behind us. Must have been a wild cat.
My wife hit a turkey. Reported it to the police who called it suicide. True story.

Oh that must have been terrible. I have two happy (ish) stories though to cheer you all up! Years ago I had my own taxi business and did 1000 miles a week. I once ran over a hedgehog. Being a softie I went back to see how it was. It was crying like a baby. I picked it up using a blanket and kept it in a box overnight. I took it to St Tiggywinkles the Hedgehog hospital in the morning. (about 70 miles away!) I rang them up and found that it had a broken leg. They put its leg in plaster and when it was healed they took the plaster off and released it somewhere near St Albans. Another time a cat ran under my car. I knocked on the door of the only house with a light on (it was midnight). The people let me in and said, "yes we do have a cat, look it's there, it's all right' 'No it isn't' I said. 'I'll pay any vet's bills, please take it to the vet as I have more taxi jobs to do tonight.' Well this was about twenty five years ago I think. The bill came to £150 as the cat had a broken hip. It was pinned all up its leg, but recovered and never went near a car again. I was only asked to pay half the vet's bill. I went to visit the cat at its house while it was recovering. Arr! Some stories do have happy endings. :-)
