a Turnip
a bit of green crepe paper fanning from your head, a brown frock elasticated at every orifice..lol
and green tights
Groing up and stopping at home might be one option.

mike11111; why would you say that, its a fancy dress party and I like to have a laugh and join in with friends. I'm not one to be stopping in and be boring, unlike some !!! And you say groing up (it's growing up... note the spelling !) but you have no idea who I am ?

Bobbisox; thank you for your suggestion.
Try Gene Simmons of Kiss. When the band were at their peak in the States, a lot of kids dressed as the band on Halloween.

I'd go as Cruella, from 101 Dalmatians, not too hard.................long flowing dress, scary make up, and a long dark wig, preferably with a white streak!.............be great!...........

welshlibranr; thank you.. another great suggestion.
there are some costumes on eBay for Halloween......
sorry but I'm with Mike on this one, I don't like Halloween, I'm one of these miserable old gits who doesn't open the door on 31 October. It's turned from a fun event with bobbing for apples and pumpkin lanterns into a commercial round - trick or treat is an unpleasant import. The "go away" sign goes up in my window from about the 29th onwards - and it's obviously not only just me, most police forces now give out free signs on their websites for people to put in their windows when ToT calls are unwelcome.
I hope you have a good party btw though, I know everyone doesn't feel the same as I do!

boxtops; thanks for suggestion, I'll take a look.
Don't get me wrong, I actually don't agree with 'kids' knocking on doors for ToT's, think its actually dangerous. But Halloween can still be fun without being too commercial or forced on those that don't want to be involved. I like a party and use any excuse to go to one. The dressing up, get-togethers with friends and their kids is all part of the fun. It's all confined to one house-hold, kids dress up, play and do the usual apple-bobbing etc. The adults have a (sensible) drink and a laugh, we love to dress up too, as old as we are. All good fun !!
Me too mustanglady, always up for a party - glad you know what I mean.
Remember the original Karate Kid film?

He went as a shower unit, I still think that's the best ever fancy dress outfit, however it might not be very practical, or easy to make come to think of it!
I went to my first halloween fancy dress party last year, after 54 years of refusing to celebrate my birthday dressed as a witch I gave in and went for it, best birthday bash i've ever had .

Sorry if I caused you any offence, but I have an obsessive aversion to the whole concept of Halloween.

p.s. my spelling is perfect, unlike the AB editing facilities which allow for no correction once the submit button has been pressed.

I dont like trick or treating, never have understood why parents would let kids knock on strangers doors, but I'm all for dressing up for a party, I have got to think of an outfit too
My nephew went as Frankenstein, and won
i love Halloween! But being a Goth I dress up all the time, a customer was in my work one day and said to me 'Why are you dressed like that? It's not Halloween you know!'. A colleage said to her 'Everyday is Halloween in Wheaten's world!'.
Go to a charity shop, long black dress, long black wig from joke shop/Poundland, pale make-up and lots of black eyeliner and red lipstick and go as Morticia. Or cheap legggings, leopard print top, tan and black stripped make up, make a tail and ears out of old tights and go as a cat!
