one of our dog weed on the beige coloured carpet in our house, we soaked the area with water and pet stain remover and scrubbed it but the area does not seem to be any different, there is a dark patch where the stain was despite trying to dry the patch with a hair dryer for ages, anyone know how we can get the stain out please, any help appreciated. :-)
You now have to wee on the carpet to dilute the......oh no that's wine, isn't it? Seriously, are you sure that the dark patch isn't just because you've really soaked the carpet? Could take ages (hours) to dry
Iw as going to say the same, it sounds like it's just very wet. If the floor underneath is concrete or stone it could take a long while. I'd leave it to dry out and if it's still there give it another clean.
we have washed it twice now and soaked up water with paper towels, and dried with a hairdryer but there is a dark coloured ring around the patch which is not shifting. :-(
Probably shouldn't have used hairdryer- may have "set" the stain. Perhaps a mild biological detergent solution worth a try, but leave to dry naturally.
Benny...wet the stain again. Get a large towel and fold it in 4. Put over the stain and put as many heavy books on it that you can find. Repeat until the stain has gone.
You could also try using a mixture of BIOLOGICAL washing liquid and water to dab the stain. It must be biological as that will break down the enzymes in the urine and help to remove the stain and the odour. Do not dry it with a hairdryer, allow to air dry naturally.
I found this great Oxy stuff, a powder in a little tub you mix into water, blot and then leave to dry. Was only cheap but by far outperformed a proper carpet stain remover I'd tried. My old flat had a lot of marks on the carpet from before I moved it and it was fantastic on them.
Just make sure whatever you use to blot doesn't have any dye in it which might transfer.
If all else fails you could hire a proper carpet cleaner and stain remover and use it for the whole house to give all the carpets a spring clean.
Benny, put soda water on the stain, then put a towel over it and step on the towel forcing it down onto the stain. The towel should look dirty when you remove it. Keep doing this over and over till it clears - the bicarb in the soda will break the stain down and the towel will blot it off.
I think it is a problem with the colour and type of carpet - I had similar problems with a beige textured carpet that we had - even water used to stain it, it was a nightmare - the only thing that got rid of the marks was to get the whole carpet professionally cleaned.
After soaking up excess wet, we have always dribbled white vinegar on the stains then lifted with kitchen towel. Apparently white wine also works, maybe thats more for the affluent. White vinegar has also lifted dryed in red wine stains. A friend swears by a good sprinkling of salt , that absords the stain.
Whats under the carpet, has the excess wet drawn colour up from the underlay or floorboards?
Be very careful with it, we had the same problem, our dog peed, and I blotted the stain out and then dabbed with biological washing powder solution. This only made it worse and we were left with a permanent stain on the carpet, which was almost removed by a professional carpet cleaner (after we'd tried everything else)
We ended up replacing the carpet as nothing could get the stain out completely.
My advice would be to get a professional in and wash with nothing other than water in the meantime
