books you enjoyed when you were young..

i was thinking the other night, about the books i used to enjoy when i was a wee nipper..

enid blytons were my all time fave :o)

i can fondly remember the funny short stories of mr meddle and mr twiddle..

and of course there were the famous five books that i just used to love,
i remember being quite envious of all their exciting adventures which always involved a picnic and lashings of ginger beer..

oh and the naughtiest girl in the school and mallory towers books! anyone used to read those too? ohh they were great, loved em all!

Ooooooh! Mallory Towers OMG so many memories. Loved The Faraway Tree, with Moonface, too.

and talking of christmas anuals, did you get whizzer and chips and the beano in your stocking?! lol

Yes looby - beano, dandy, topper, whizzer and chips etc were all popular in our house - I used to get the twinkle sometimes when I was little - nurse nancy etc.

Being Scottish, we always has either "The broons" or "Oor Wullie" depending on what was out that year.

My kids now read all the annuals we used to get - I buy them a couple for their stocking and my Mum still buys them one as well.
