loss...through no fault of my own, I am now subject to slanderous comments from an ex-friend and also a work colleague. Its not a work issue, however, all stems from anonymous texts being received from a number i didnt know. I had police call me in relation to the texts that apparently I had been replying to in an abusive manner - the phone alledgedly belonged to a 7 y/o girl who is a relative of ex friend. Ex-friend passed this old mobile phone onto the girl, conveniently my mobile number was left on this phone! What should I do ?

You have some sort of defence in that you thought you were being spammed or cold-called by what appeared to you to be nuisance calling - make sure the police know that. Who gives a phone to a seven-year-old without clearing it first?

Police just basically explained the situation, and said some names which I recongised who the phone original owner was, police would not listen to my side of this at all, and just said 'the matter is closed', they sent the first text out of the blue, I merely responded to 'who is this please'....and it carried on, just a case of me getting irritated by this texter who refused to simply say who it was. I have tried to call police but they say there is nothing they can do. I have kept all the texts and all my replies.
Keep it all, rainbow, and the conversations you've had on here saying how bewlidered and annoyed you were by the calls in the first place. All evidence if anything should come of it. What do the police mean, "case closed"? Nothing worth investigating? I think you should be told, being accused of sending abusive calls to the phone of a 7-year-old is not good, you need to be sure that there is nothing on record or that it's just been closed off as a misunderstanding, surely?
The girl is the niece of the ex-friend, who I have also met ages ago, its all to weird to me and very very disturbing...I thin they were just trying to stir some unecessary upset as they obviously have nothing better to do, but I have a right to defend myself...I dont think many people would take kindly to someone telling them they are sick in the head for abusing children....truly a vile thing to say.
