I am running IE8 on XP SP2 and use Gmail. I recent recieved an email from a friend with some photos included in the text but I can only see a small box containing a red cross. A right click of the mouse gives an option to show picture but it doesn't do so. Can anyone advise please?
Thanks

Your friend has maybe linked the pictures to their desktop rather than attaching them. Do you have the same trouble with all emails?

Do the pictures show as attachements? If they do, try saving to harddrive. Otherwise ask friend to resend them as attachments. If there are a lot, ask your friend to send them as a zip file.

Thanks .... it is allegedly something to do with my IE settings. My friend can open them successfuly and my son can open them on Firefox with Gmail. (I forwarded the mail to him). I cannot understand waht setting in IE8 applies.
I don't think this has to do with an IE8 setting.
I've just viewed one of my Gmails with embedded images in Firefox and it worked fine.
I then logged in to Gmail via IE8, and the same message has some images, some red crosses which you can right-click and show, and some which will not show at all.
I believe the technical term for this is "IE8 = cr@p"
