Hi, I have had to return to the doctor this morning after having to take time off of work because the pain was so bad. I have now had this condition for around ten months and if anything it is getting worse. I have now been offered the injections in my heel....eekkkkk!!!

Has anyone gained relief from these? I had the same type of injection into my spine some years back with absolutely no relief whatsoever and am a little sceptical, to say the least, that it will work on my foot.
Is it worth the pain of the injection?

Your chiropodist could get some orthotic insoles made for you. I`ve worked with people who have them and they say they can help a lot.
hi lisa....go and get the cortisone injection in your heel. my mum had this and she was in agony just like you. the injection is a little painful and there is pain for a couple of days after but once the pain subsides you will feel like a new woman! my mum had her's done over a year ago and the pain has not returned!

Hi, thanks for your replies. I have not been referred to a chiropodist, would I have to do that privately?
Hi hollie...I know I'm just being a wuss! What's the saying? No pain no gain....Maybe I shall just have to grin and bear it.

i think it will be the best thing for you! my mum tried the chiropodist and the chiropractor, with a charge of £50 per treatment (she went twice a week!) which might have helped in the short term but for long term results have the cortisone!
I had an injection. The doc warned it was a bit painful and I did say something along the lines of 'ouch' when he stuck the needle in but it lasted about half a second (really - it was just in and out), I didn't have any after effects and I haven't had any recurrence in 3 years. I do wear the insoles in my shoes.

Hi jno...so you didn't swear then ;O}
Oh well wish me luck....looks like I'm going to go for it!

Have you tried wearing crocs?
Lisa, I'd do it again tomorrow if I had to, and I HATE needles.
My P.F. was helped greatly by the proper shoe (Danskins). I think MBTshoes also help. However, Danskins are hard on my knees, MBT shoes are somewhat unstable, and I am already an old person. Danskins are a clog for those who are familiar with them.

Have heard of the croc thing before, do they have to be the standard crocs or would something like these do.....

I could probably even get away with wearing them for work!

divegirl, sadly its the design as well as the cushiony material IMO. What might work would be to wear the croc type crocs most of the time and the ones you like the style of for work once the inflammation has subsided?
