Ryder Cup Timing
Why organise such a prestige event as the Ryder Cup, at this time of the year and more so in Wales, were there was even more chance of heavy rain. Why not plan it for late July or early September when there is a much better chance of more clement weather whereever it is played

Golf doesn't stop for rain, no matter heavy it gets. However if the course is waterlogged and there is hardly anywhere, other than completely soggy ground available to drop the ball to make it playable, they have to come off to protect the course as much as anything. Also if lightening threatens, the players are always called in immediately. Lee Trevino was hit by lightening in the 1970s and luckily survived without serious injuries. Spurs footballer Johnny White in a separate incident wasn't so lucky and died.
