I bet Cameron is shaking in his boots. Well he would be if it woudln't spill his champaigne that he must have cracked open at this news.

Vib, if labour continue the way they are then the Tories wont have to do much.
BTW. I am not quite as jubilant as I make out. I always think a good government is made by a strong opposition. It looks like we wont have this. This is what the problem was with Blair
I forsee alot of infighting in the labour party. Hopefully I am wrong.

Geezer, you really are turning into a parody of a raving righty, get a grip man!
Alan johnson was a member of both Blair's and Brown's cabinets.
He did not frighten the voters in 197, 2001 or 2005. Why would he scare them next time?
He will be judged on his performance as Shadow Chancellor. If he does well, no one except dinosaurs like you will bother about his political roots.
I do not like the appointment myself. Johnson was a rubbish Home Secretary.

Gromit, do you really think he will perform as shadow Chancellor?
Under Blairm not so much under Brown Unions were kept under wraps. This is not the case now, Red ED having taking the Unions shilling has opened the party to all sorts of smears and accusations. anyone with Union connections will be subject to associations such as R1 has put forward. It will be very difficult to place labour in centre ground and as we know "Middle England (Mondeo man) giveth and Middle England taketh. You, I, Jake, AOG,R1 doent really mater in the equation. We have made our well thought out descion and will most likely stick with it. The floaters are teh ones that matter.
And majority of the public does not think, as you well know.

Yet again you take uniformed red top scare mongering as gospel.
There is no RED ED - if David had one it would never have occured its just a convenient label to enrage the gullible right. The unions are no more to the fore than they were.
There is one thing I agree the Tories won't have to do much, given the polls they carry on like this they will have a 1997 result in the next election, which I suspect is about a year away.

So I take it you dont think Mr Milliband Jnr leans to the left then and that the Unions that put him there dont think so too?
I can assure you Dave I have the intelligence to look past the red tops. Do you have the same with regard to the Guardian.Independants of this world?
Millbankd Snr did not take the Uniosn shillling so I agree it would not have happend. but jnr did so I fail to see your argument.

Weve done this before, there will always be a connection between the Labour party and the unions because the party grew from the unions. However there has been clear water over political direction and unions since kinnock.
It would be both stupid and naive to say there isn't any influnce but given the connection between Cameron and Murdoch I think youll agree that parties need thier sponsers.
This country doesn't need old fashioned socialism any more and any labour leader that tried to embrace it would, I suspect, be punted.
