How many types of visas and which are they, exist in the UK? I've visited already the hjome office website, but is such a long long information...

There's not a simple answer to "how many". There's a number of different combinations of circumstances for each visa. Take a look at http://ukvisas.gov.uk I found this most helpful whilst helping a Russian to come here first as a visitor and then to study.
