My car battery runs down slowly over about a week and I have to keep charging it, The starter motor is on its way out so have bought a new one as it takes ages for it to start up. is this the problem with the battery. I have had the alternator tested and they said it was ok.

You say in your follow-up question that you have already changed your battery. There must be something draining the battery. Check to see that the boot light goes out when it's closed. Something must be sticking on.

I have had everyting tested with no luck but it only started doing this when i had a new cd player put in, but when i said it could brr that the mecanic laughed at me said it wasnt possible, but i still think it could be that

you should take it to an auto electrician to do a battery leakage test. they will run a comprehensive test that will track down the cause of the power drainage.

It may not necessarily be the cd player, adding the CD player may have disturbed something else

I have had everything tested at the diognostic garage and they cant find anything wrong. but that didnt help when i was stuck behind an accident and couldnt start the car and had a mile of traffic behind me and 6 policemen trying to move the car. now you can all laugh but it wasnt funny at the time lol
